A warm welcome to the website of the Insitute of Polymer Materials.
The Chair, headed by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. habil. Dirk W. Schubert, focuses on various plastics processing methods within the Polymer Physics and Processing research group. The main focus here is on process optimisation through the correlation of molecular characteristics and process-specific parameters. To this end, the Chair utilises molecular analytical techniques such as chromatography and spectroscopy. The findings are then combined with parameters from rheological and process analyses to enable modelling for process optimisation.
The research group OMD (Organic Materials and Devices) , led by Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Marcus Halik, is also affiliated with the LSP. The OMD group’s research focuses on new, innovative organic and hybrid materials for electronic and optoelectronic device applications in transistors, non-volatile memory, solar cells, sensors and capacitors. The research follows an interdisciplinary approach based on understanding chemical compounds at the molecular level (chemistry), investigating their properties in formulations and after deposition, constructing functional devices (physics, engineering and processing), and finally understanding the electrical characterisation of devices (electrical engineering).
In addition to his work at the chair, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. habil Dirk W. Schubert, is one of the Keylab coordinators at the Bavarian Polymer Institute (BPI). Enquiries regarding the BPI’s activities may be directed to the Keylab’s scientific coordinator, M.Sc. Stefan Schrüfer.
