Prof. Dr. rer. nat. habil. Dirk W. Schubert, Chair of Polymers (WW5), was awarded the prestigious Paul J. Flory Polymer Research Prize at Polychar-27 (14.-17.10.2019 in Naples).

The prize is named after Paul John Flory (1910-1985), an American chemist. In 1974, he won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his fundamental achievements in the field of the physical chemistry of macromolecules.

Prof. Dr. Among other things, Schubert developed the so-called Schubert plot for simple graphic determination of the interaction parameter of polymer-copolymer blends and treated the spin-coating process from a molecular point of view. He also developed a first theoretical description for the prediction of fiber diameter and distribution for the electrospinning process.
